Meghan Markle filed a “formal complaint” after Piers Morgan comments

A complaint to ITV was made on her behalf.

Meghan Markle herself was reportedly among those unhappy with Piers Morgan's coverage of her interview with Oprah. Both The Guardian and The Telegraph reported that a "formal complaint was lodged with ITV on behalf of the duchess after the broadcast". The television network told Tyla that no further comments will be made about the complaint. The news comes in the wake of Morgan's departure from the channel's breakfast show Good Morning Britain. Ofcom received over 40,000 complaints in relation to comments made by Morgan about Meghan Markle. In the interview with Oprah broadcast earlier this week, Meghan revealed that she had suicidal thoughts as a member of the royal family. Additionally, she told the chat show host that a member of the family had "concerns" regarding her son's skin tone. The following morning, Morgan addressed these claims. He said "I'm sorry, I don't believe a word she said." He added that he "wouldn't believe it if she read me a weather report." On Tuesday, Morgan's colleague Alex Beresford condemned Piers' treatment of Meghan in the previous day's show. In response, the controversial presenter left the set. Yesterday evening, ITV announced Piers Morgan's departure. The statement read: "Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided that now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add." This morning, the presenter addressed his decision on Twitter. He wrote:  "On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t. If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions."
