If you're anything like me, a 90s baby who group up singing along to her music, you can't help but be utterly devastated by the way Britney's been treated - and by her own father, making it all the more horrific.
Everything from being allegedly forced into a mental health facility against her will after standing up for herself when she was made perform with a fever of 102, to the strict list of rules she needs to follow, Britney's life has truly been taken away from her.
One rule Britney stated is that she is banned from alcohol and energy drinks, another that she has no control over her credit cards and gets a weekly allowance of $2000.
While $2000 a week may seem like a lot to most of us, we need to remember that she has very little ways to actually spend it, not to mention her father makes twice that just by being her conservator.
Some rules she mentioned were just plain ridiculous, like being banned from repainting her kitchen cabinets, a clear sign of the control and what can only be described as the ownership her father has over her.
Britney has finally spoken out about it during a court hearing yesterday, detailing just how abusive it is, she's depressed and deserves to live her life the way she wants, without any repercussions.
But the chilling details she spoke about were truly concerning and genuinely just terrifying. This type of control has been happening in front of our eyes, which only makes it harder to hear.
She said: "I have an IUD in my body right now that won’t let me have a baby, and my conservators won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out."
"The last time I spoke to you, it made me feel like I was dead, like I didn't matter, like you thought I was lying. I'm not lying, so that maybe you understand the depth and degree, I deserve changes."
Britney is so obviously being bullied, abused and treated like her life doesn't matter, by someone who brought her into this world, the last person who should treat her this way.
Britney Spears is a human, someone just like any one of us and finds herself in such a harrowing circumstance, nobody should ever have to endure what she has.Explore more on these topics:
