Royal expert says it's a 'very hard time' for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's relationship

One royal expert has said that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are facing a difficult time in their relationship.

They have been together for three years now and this particular commentator believes this can be a difficult time in many relationships, somewhat of a transition period.

According to reports, the couple met in the summer of 2016 when they were introduced by mutual friends.

They were engaged in November 2017 and married the following May in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

Baby Archie arrived in May this year and it's fair to say that it's been a whirlwind three years for both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Sydney-based author and journalist, Angela Mollard, said that it could be a difficult time for the couple as they transition from the excitement of being newlyweds to the reality of managing. work and childcare etc.

Speaking recently on podcast Royals, the royal expert said:

"I've been thinking about this a lot, because three years is generally understood by relationship psychologists and counsellors to be the point where you move out of the limerence phase".

According to The Express, Angela then went on to give her definition of limerence, a stage of a relationship where the infatuation has passed.

"Limerence is deeper than infatuation, but it’s the beginning of a relationship where it’s all butterflies and you laugh together all the time and you’re very amenable".

Angela then went on to say that their relationship had moved at quite a fast pace, from an engagement to a proposal to a baby in a short space of time.

And she said that this change could be difficult when their lives are so much in the limelight and public attention is focused on them.

Angela said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have to cope with a lot of external pressures that most couples aren't faced with.

"I think they have to have a marriage that is stronger than most. And, I think that’s going to be very, very hard".

She also compared the couple to Harry's older brother and his wife Kate who dated for a longer period before getting engaged.

However, it's important to remember that their romance began while they were at university, a completely different life stage to where Harry and Meghan are at.
