TV News anchor quits 25-year career for a life in porn

Cassie Delaney

Jim Walker dedicated 25 years building his career in television.

During his journalism career, Walker covered major stories including the Space Shuttle disaster over Texas, Hurricane Katrina, and the Columbine School shootings. He worked for CBS and received numerous Emmy nominations.

After a year in WBBH however, he was let go. In a statement at the time, Walker said that the station was brutal and ill managed.

According to Adweek he said:

“I’m not angry or depressed, but more disappointed. I expected I would retire here. I expected to have years for viewers to get to know me, and me them. Television news is a brutal business and as the pie gets smaller and smaller, stations are going to get more desperate with salaries getting smaller and people working harder and harder. [Anchor and reporter] talent is getting younger and younger because older, experienced people aren’t willing to work for $25k per year. Television news is dying a desperate and ugly death.”

He said in other interviews that he was growing tired of media and that the pressure was overwhelming.

“Add to that, the immense pressure of daily ratings where your job is virtually on the line every single day,” he said to gayety.

Walker turned instead to the porn industry where he is fast building a reputation for himself.

Since November 2015, Walker (who know goes by Dallas Steele) has filmed 22 adult films.

He reveals that he does miss aspects of journalism but as a whole, he is much more satisfied.

“I miss telling great stories, I miss the rush of sharing breaking news, and I miss getting to know viewers,” he confessed. “What I don’t miss is the schizophrenic management at every station that can’t decide from day to day what they want, and as a result are constantly blaming the talent and trying to make the talent be something they aren’t.”

Walker concluded, “If they left the talent the fuck alone to be who we are, viewers would be a lot happier. Most anchors are so beaten down, even they don’t have a clue anymore about who they really are.”
