WATCH: Paul Rudd tells us all why we should, obviously, wear a mask

Conor Heneghan

“Look at us, Hey, hey… look at us.”

If there was a poll done tomorrow on the most likeable people on the planet, then chances are Paul Rudd would be at the top of the list.

He’s funny, charming, doesn’t seem to have a bad word to say about anyone – nor have a bad word said about him in return.

So if you wanted a mass audience to take on a message about wearing masks to help stop the spread of Covid-19, there are few better people to deliver that message than the Ruddster himself.

Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York, knows this and that’s why he asked Rudd (or at least his people told him it would be a good idea) to deliver a message on the importance of masks to the people of The Big Apple.

All the better, considering it’s an A-lister like Paul Rudd, that message was always going to extend beyond the city that never sleeps to a global audience.

In a self-parodying effort at making it more relatable, Rudd, who must be the youngest 51-year-old in the world, assumes the guise of a “certified young person”, directly addresses “us millennials” while carrying a skateboard, wearing a baseball cap slightly askew and references TikTok and youthful pop cultural icon Billie Eilish.

All that joking aside, towards the end of the video, an exasperated Rudd breaks out of a rap to say: “Just wear a mask, it’s easy, it’s simple. Please. It’s not hard, people are dying. Hundreds of thousands of people are dying and it’s preventable. It’s preventable!

“Just wear a mask, I shouldn’t have to make it fun. It’s science… It’s science. Ugh!”

And the best part? There’s still time for an updated version of his famous ‘Look at Us’ clip with Sean Evans before the finish…
