‘Wrecking Ball’ Penned As Revenge Track For Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus has revealed she wrote the lyrics to ‘Wrecking Ball’ as an act of revenge after having her heart broken.

The star, who was performing at a London gay club, gave the crowd some background to the hit song, telling them:

“I wrote this song after somebody broke my heart, and I just wanted to say ‘f*ck you.'”

Given the timeline of the song’s recording and release, it seems very likely that somebody is a certain Liam Hemsworth.

The singer said she wanted to write a number one hit, continuing:

“[and] make sure every time he turned on his radio, he would hear my song and will keep hearing it for the rest of his life.”

Liam and Miley ended their engagement eight months ago after a four year relationship.

Miley previously admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that her new album, Bangerz, is about Liam:

“The whole album is a story of that and I think it says that starting with Adore You and ending with Someone Else. I feel like you can really find this arc of growth.”

What’s the saying? A woman scorned…
