First look at The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is here and it is magical

We can't wait for this!

“It’s Christmas Eve — a time of mystery, expectations. Who knows what might happen?”

The first trailer for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms has been released just in time for the holidays – and it’s just as magical as you would expect.

Drawing inspiration from E.T.A. Hoffmann’s original 1816 German fairytale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King and Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet, it follows Clara as she gets transported to another world while following a golden thread meant to lead her to a precious key that’s gone missing.

This is when Clara meets a soldier named Philip, and the two join forces to go on an adventure across the Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers, and Land of Sweets – which is where she runs into Keira Knightley’s Sugar Plum Fairy.

Clara and Philip end up facing the dangers of the Fourth Realm, where Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren) rules.

Morgan Freeman’s character sets the tone for the preview clip, when he says:

“It’s Christmas Eve — a time of mystery, expectations. Who knows what might happen?”

It’ll be awhile until we officially find out, though, as The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is due to hit cinemas in Ireland in late Fall 2018.

In the meantime, though, check out the fabulously festive trailer below.
