Corrie boss hints at ‘explosive’ end to Jade Rowan’s storyline

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod has hinted at an “explosive” end to Jade Rowan’s storyline.

In November, fans of the soap found out that Jade was the daughter of Fiz’s late husband, John Stape – and that she was keen to get closer to her half-sister, Hope.

And as the truth about Jade and her motiviations is set to become unraveled in the coming weeks, Corrie’s Iain MacLeod has teased the “high-octane” ending to the storyline.

“Soaps are all about balance of tone,” he told Metro. “So we’ve got a very serious David story but playing against that we have a slightly more heightened, dare I say ‘campy story’ with the brilliant bonkers Jade and her secret assault on the Dobbs household.”

“It’s just fabulous and exciting, a really high-octane ending and I think it will probably subvert people’s expectations about what they think about Jade, which is really exciting and interesting,” he continued.

Lottie Henshall, who plays Jade, previously opened up about her character’s motivations – and how there was more to the character than meets the eye.

The actress explained to Digital Spy that she had known Jade’s true identity basically from the start – but hadn’t expected her develop as a character in the way that she has.

“I thought that Jade would just come in, do a load of bad things and then leave again,” she explained. “But there’s much more to this character than meets the eye and I’m excited for the audience to see that.”

Jade’s main goal, according to Lottie, is to be with her half-sister and look after her.

“She wants to keep [Hope] safe. Jade has been fed lies for her entire life. She was even lied to about who her dad was,” the actress explained. “Jade has also been told that Fiz is a bad person and that she killed John. She’s been brainwashed into thinking Fiz is this evil person – and she genuinely does believe that.”
