The creator of Riverdale appears to have just confirmed a major death

Needless to say, there are spoilers beyond this point.

Over the last few seasons, Riverdale viewers have gotten used to plenty of twists, turns, and ‘wait, did that really just happen’ jaw-dropping moments.

But the creator of Riverdale has just seemingly confirmed a massive death in season four – and honestly, we’re not ready.

The midseason finale saw a flashforward seemingly hint that Jughead Jones had been killed by his girlfriend, Betty Cooper – with his body found in the most recently episode.

Along with a number of Riverdale fans, we were in denial that Jughead is gone for good (surely they will find a way to bring him back?!). However, it seems like Riverdale’s showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has confirmed the outcome of the storyline once and for all.

“A very special episode of Riverdale tomorrow night,” Aguirre-Sacasa wrote on Twitter. “Watch it with some comfort food. Tomato soup, perhaps.”

He also shared a quote from Jughead, which showed his birthdate – October 2, 2001 – and the date that he died: March 18, 2020.

Given that this week’s episode of Riverdale is called ‘To Die For’, it’s not exactly looking good for poor Jughead.

It comes as Riverdale fans have become convinced that the end of season four will see a massive time jump – and you can read more about why here.
