David Schwimmer to star in Sky’s new workplace comedy, Intelligence

Jade Hayden

Sounds gas, in fairness.

David Schwimmer is set to star in Sky’s upcoming comedy series, Intelligence.

The former Friends star will be making us all lol, rofl, and lmfao once more as he takes on his latest role in the new workplace comedy series.

The show, which is set for release early next year, will follow Schwimmer’s character, Jerry, as he lands into a UK intelligence branch – sort of like a bumbling, worse version of MI5 – to try and tackle some cyber crime.

Paired with an inept and tactless computer analyst Joseph (played by Nick Mohammed), the, ahem, team will find themselves in the middle of some cyber-based drama that threatens to disrupt their work and, even more importantly, the cyber safety of the country.

The series is created and written by Mohammed too, so we can probably go ahead and say that the guy knows what he’s talking about when it comes to the trials and tribulations of cyber terrorism – and making people laugh.

Schwimmer certainly thinks so anyway.

“I think you’ll find this is the best TV comedy made in the last two hundred years,” he said. “You can’t see my face, but I’m super serious.”

Intelligence is an absolute peach of a show; genuinely juicy, truly funny and shot through with a chemistry that won’t be top secret for long,” added Jon Mountague, Sky Studios director of comedy.

“Forget Harry and Meghan, David and Nick’s is an Anglo-American relationship for our times. 2020 is going to be an even bigger year for Sky original comedies on Sky One – and they don’t come much more special than this.”

“Given that David is most well-known for his dramatic roles, it’s nice to see him finally have a go at comedy. Hopefully it’ll lead to more work of this quality,” said Mohammed.

Yeah, here’s hoping, mate.

Also starring  Sylvestra Le Touzel, Jane Stanness, Gana Bayarsaikhan, Oliver Birch, Eliot Salt and Colin Salmon, Intelligence season one will have six episodes of 30 minutes each.

It is due to air on Sky One and streaming service NOW TV on February 18, 2020.
