Ed and Taylor are long-time friends.

Very diplomatic, Ed.

Ed Sheeran, a long-time friend of Taylor Swift, has given his two cents on the ongoing feud between her and Katy Perry.

He told People Magazine that he doesn’t need to ‘defend’ Taylor.

“I don’t think she needs that at all,” he said.

And while the pair have both released songs that are supposedly aimed at one another – Taylor’s Bad Blood and Katy’s Swish Swish – Ed reminded is that diss tracks are old news.

“I don’t think feud songs are a hot thing—there’s always been beef songs. It’s mainly been like Carly Simon,” he said, alluding to the song You’re So Vain, which Carly Simon wrote about actor Warren Beatty in the 1970s.

Katy and Taylor reportedly fell out a number of years ago in a row over backing dancers, though Katy recently (kind of) extended the olive branch.

During her Carpool Karaoke appearance with James Corden, she told the host that she’d be happy to bury the hatchet if Taylor reached put to her.

“Honestly, it’s really like she started it, and it’s time for her to finish it.”

“The beef is off the grill.”
