It has caused a lot of controversy among viewers.
But Emmerdale fans were left cheering tonight as schoolboy Jacob Gallagher finally ended things with Maya Stepney and told her to leave him alone.
The teacher has been grooming 15-year-old Jacob, her student and the stepson of her boyfriend, David Metcalfe, for the last few weeks.
In the more recent episodes, Jacob had been desperate to impress Maya and sent her a shirtless photo of himself. The photo was almost discovered by David, which left Jacob overcome with grief in tonight’s episode – and he finally stood up to Maya.
In Friday night’s episode, he gave her an ultimatum: she had to pick between being with him or being with David.
The 15-year-old said that David didn’t deserve what they were doing to him and she needed to make a clear decision, no matter what it may be, as he didn’t want to lie anymore.
Maya tried to convince him that telling David wasn’t “a solution, it was end game” and that sneaking around was the “only way” they could be together.
However, later in the episode, Jacob appeared to finally have had enough and ended things with Maya.
He told her that he “didn’t want to live a lie”, before adding:
“I’m sick of it I can’t stand it anymore! You don’t have to decide anything alright, I’ll do it for you. We’re over. “
