Hugh Jackman wants to do a The Greatest Showman 2 and yeah, same tbh

Hugh Jackman has said he wouldn’t mind doing a sequel to The Greatest Showman and yeah, tbh we’d be alright with that too.

The Australian actor said that he’d “get the top hat out” again no bother if an actual opportunity for a second instalment of the musical came along.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Jackman said: “If a genuine opportunity came up where it felt like the right thing to do, then yep, I’d get the top hat back out.”

Unreal.

However, Jackman did say that seeing as the company that produced The Greatest Showman, 21st Century Fox, is in the process of being bought by Disney, he isn’t sure whether a sequel is on anybody’s radar at the moment.

“I’m not sure what they would do, but it did take a while to get the first one up, and it’s not to be underestimated how difficult it is to get a musical up and going.

“But it’s clear to me and to everyone that people love these characters. I loved this movie, I loved this character and it was one of the great joys of my life.”

Same, man.

The Greatest Showman has been enthralling and delighting audiences around the world since its release back in 2017.

Starring Jackman alongside Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Michelle Williams, the movie detailed the life and business ventures of PT Barnum – America’s (you guessed it) greatest showman.

That being said, we’re not entirely sure what else there is to tell about this lad’s life other than his keen interest in minstrel shows and the exploitation of freed slaves.

Can’t imagine either of those details making for a decent musical.
