It has been reported that a paper will be published this week where the government will present questions about the BBC to be debated by parliament.
Meanwhile, the Sunday Times has reported that another issue is that it is believed the BBC is putting too much money behind the production of programmes that other broadcasters already provide.
The Voice UK was reportedly singled out as an example of this.
“Research has shown that an element of competition drives up quality across the industry,” a BBC source told Digital Spy.
