Popular talent show The Voice UK may not be returning to our screens according to reports this week.

The series is said to be under review by the government in the UK, who are examining BBC’s output.

The show could well be axed if the government’s wishes that the BBC should be focusing more on public service programming are realized.

It has been reported that a paper will be published this week where the government will present questions about the BBC to be debated by parliament.

Meanwhile, the Sunday Times has reported that another issue is that it is believed the BBC is putting too much money behind the production of programmes that other broadcasters already provide.

The Voice UK was reportedly singled out as an example of this.

“The voice of the public will be key and they will have their own view about the merits of BBC programmes like Strictly and Sherlock.”
