Jessica Biel says emergency caesarean left her ‘disillusioned’

Like many mums, the actresses birth went anything but according to plan.

Jessica Biel and husband Justin Timberlake usually tend to keep their personal lives out of the spotlight, especially when it comes to their son Silas.

Turning three this week, little Silas’ entrance into the world was far from how his Mum and Dad imagined it, as the pair have been sharing this week.

The couple’s former nanny Connie Simpson has released a book, in which Jessica and Justin share the story of their original birth plan and what eventually came to be nearly three years ago.

“Our birth plan was anything but normal,” the couple revealed in the book, The Nannie Connie Way: Secrets to Mastering the First Four Months of Parenthood.

“We had two midwives, one doula, one meditation birthing class, a ton of hippy baby books, and a lovely home in the Hollywood Hills that we had turned into a labour training facility that we called The Octagon.

“So, not exactly normal.”

However, the mum-of-one says that it wasn’t long until all of their plans fell apart and they ended up where they never thought they would – the operating room.

“When all our plans fell apart and the serene, natural childbirth we had envisioned ended with a transfer to the hospital and an emergency C-section, we arrived home exhausted, disillusioned, and totally in shock.

“I was obsessed with everything organic, toxin-free, natural, and homoeopathic for our kid, who came into this world in an operating room through an incision.

“I was a dictator, making myself and my husband insane.”

The experience was not how Jessica or Justin planned it – a feeling many parents can relate to.

The pair later recruited the help of Nanny Connie to get them through the first few months as parents to their little boy. Silas is to turn three this weekend.
