JK Rowling just addressed a pretty dark theory about professor Dumbledore

Olivia Hayes

So, it’s true then?

Fans of Harry Potter have certainly not let the books and movies die out. It’s been 17 years since they’ve first been released, and the fandom is still going strong.

So much so, fans are still coming up with theories and scenarios about the films… but the latest one is quite dark.

The latest one surrounds Dumbledore, and the Tale of the Three Brothers.

If you don’t remember the story, it went a little something like this: three brothers came across a river that they needed to cross but was too dangerous. They used magic to create a bridge, but then Death arrived, annoyed that the brothers ‘cheated’ him.

Death then tried to trick the brothers and said he was impressed by their skills, so they all received a wish each.

The first brother asked for a powerful wand (the Elder Wand), and the second asked for the ability to bring back people from the dead (the Resurrection Stone).

However, the third was wary that Death was trying to trick them, so he asked for the Invisibility Cloak.

The first two brothers end up dying, but the third lives a long life and hands the Invisibility Cloak to his son before greeting Death as an ‘old friend’.

A fan theory has suggested that the first brother represented Voldemort, the third represented Snape and the third was Harry Potter.

A new theory has now come on the horizon though which believes that Death is professor Dumbledore.

In the Deathly Hallows, Harry is struck with a Killing Curse and is transported to King’s Cross station, where he is greeted by his ‘old friend’ Dumbledore.

It certainly makes sense, and now JK Rowling has weighed in it on.

On Twitter she wrote: “Dumbledore as death. It’s a beautiful theory and it fits.”
