Love Island set to be the “longest” series ever as start date “confirmed”

Counting down the days.

It’s back in full swing, and it’s set to be the longest series to date – we’re in for a treat.

If you’re anything like us, you’ve been waiting since last year for the new season, and we finally know when it will arrive on our TVs, and it’s sooner than we thought.

Starting on June 6th, which means we only two months away from it hitting our screens and for the drama to return.

“Love Island is coming back with a bang and it will begin on the second full week in June,” the source claimed.

The source added that “fans can expect a long, hot summer of fun from the villa from June 6.”

“This series is going to be the longest ever and it’s from a brand new location so it’s all very exciting,” they told The Sun.

A representative for ITV told MailOnline: “It’s too soon for us to confirm the schedule.”

Along with the new series, we’re getting a brand new villa that the producers are currently on the hunt for. And of course, Laura Whitmore is set to return to host the eighth series.

Insiders told The Sun: “There has been lots of speculation that Laura might be stepping down, or that other presenters were being lined up for the role.”

They then added that bosses were hopeful that she would return but it was just a matter of ensuring the time was right, but Laura is “excited” to come back.

The Sun reported in January that ITV was searching for a new home for the latest bunch of singletons to spend the summer of love, with a TV insider saying: “ITV bosses think this is the right moment to refresh this element of the show, just as they did in series three back in 2017.

“Love Island moved from a location in Santanyi in southern Majorca, which was its home for series one and two, to the current villa in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, in the north-east.”

“Now they’re considering a range of options, but want to stay on the island which has provided the perfect sunny backdrop for the show.”

They added that no matter what, they’ll be looking for somewhere that will only “enhance” the show and fans should be excited to see what a new villa can bring.
