Move your money! Million Pound Drop is back… and it has a brand-new name

We'll be watching.

Gillian Fitzpatrick

Million Pound Drop is definitely one of our guilty all-time favourite game-shows.

It had that perfect balance of easy, tricky, and downright random questions.

It was also perfect shout-at-the-screen television… so we were pretty devastated when it was announced a year ago that the show was being scrapped due to budget-concerns.

Now, however, we have a more positive update: MPD will be returning and it has a brand-new name too… The £100K Drop.

OK, so £100,000 isn’t quite as impressive as £1,000,000 but suffice to say that we’ll be watching when it makes it to air in 2018.

Davina McCall will furthermore come back as host, and the show will move from an evening to an afternoon slot (perfect hungover viewing, we imagine).

Ms McCall said of the announcement: “I literally love hosting this show and couldn’t be more thrilled that we are back and coming to daytime!

“£100,000 is a properly life-changing amount of cash and I’m crossing my fingers for some big-money wins. I can’t wait to see you all every weekday afternoon.”

Channel 4’s Syeda Irtizaali added: “I’m delighted this award-winning, brilliant game show with its heart pounding tension and addictive gameplay will be returning daily to Channel 4 for a new audience to enjoy.

“I am really excited Davina is back at the helm.”

Million Pound Drop debuted in 2010 and eventually branched out into the likes of the US, Germany, Australia, and Russia.
