Pitchfork published the list which saw Prince’s
Purple Rain top the poll of the best 200 songs of the decade.

In second place was
Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ by Michael Jackson followed by
Straight Outta Compton by NWA’s.
New Order’s
Blue Monday took fourth spot while
Fight the Power by Public Enemy came in fifth.

Other entries in the top ten included
Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) by Kate Bush,
Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division and
Once in A Lifetime by Talking Heads.
Also featured were

Prince and Michael Jackson (again), along with The Cure, The Smiths and Sonic Youth all made the top 15.
