Say it's not so!

Nicole Kidman has a bit of bad news for fans of Big Little Lies.

The dramatic adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel had originally been commissioned as a limited series – but ended up becoming a mammoth success.

While the HBO hit has yet to be officially renewed, fans have been hoping to see the ladies of Monterey on the small screen again.

But it looks like Nicole Kidman isn’t to sure a second season is on the cards.

The actress told E!News at Michael Kors’ NYFW show that the cast are taking their time to decide if they want to do a second season of the HBO drama.

She said:

“No, it’s still not decided because it is a lot to pull together.

“The first one was a lot to put together, so we are sort of not taking it lightly in terms of what it needs.”

But the 50 year old admitted she is hoping to see the ladies of Monterey back on the TV screens – preferably sooner rather than later.

She added:

“We’re just so happy that the show has been received in the way it’s received.”

Her co-star Reese Witherspoon was a bit more hopeful about the possibility of a Big Little Lies season two.

She told E!News:

“We’re talking to Liane Moriarty, who wrote the book, about how could these characters go on, what would happen.

“We definitely left it open-ended so there’s a possibility there.”
