It’s official: Dexter is back for a limited series revival and we can’t wait!

“We can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”

There’s something about the end of this year that’s giving us hope. There’s loads of new music from artists around the world, including a full new album from Ariana Grande (yay!), and also lots of amazing TV to look forward to.

One show that had me hooked a few years ago was Dexter, and guess what? It’s back for a limited series thanks to Showtime.

The series, in case you’re not aware, is about a guy who works as a blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department, but has a double life as a serial killer when he’s not in work. I was hooked back then and I have no doubt I will be hooked again!

Nothing has been filmed yet but the show has been given the go-ahead to start production in 2021 for a 10 part series, and some of the original cast are even coming back for the limited revival.

Showtime announced the news on Instagram with a post saying: “This is not a Type-O #Dexter will return.”

Dexter wouldn’t be the same without the main man himself, and the good news is that Michael C. Hall will be back playing him for the next series. Show runner, Clyde Phillips, is also coming back for the series.

Gary Levine, Co-President of Entertainment at Showtime, said: “Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago.”

He also said they “would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”

No air date has been confirmed yet but Showtime are expecting to premiere the show in autumn 2021.
