Derek Morgan is coming back to the BAU – kind of.
Shemar Moore has announced he’s coming back to Criminal Minds.
The actor confirmed he would be returning for the fifth episode of the thirteenth season, scheduled to air on October 25 in the US.
Derek originally left the BAU after he was abducted and tortured, wanting instead to protect his family and be there for his newborn.
But he will be coming back to the BAU to help his baby girl Garcia, played by Kristen Vangness, deal with a case that affected her emotionally.

No further details have been released about his big return just yet, but TV Guide speculated it could all be down due to Jamie Kennedy’s return as cannabilistic serial killer Floyd Feylinn Ferrell this season.
It’s not the first time the actor returned to the CBS drama since his departure.
Moore previously returned for the Season 12 finale in May with a hint that led his former co-workers to Mr Scratch’s lair.
He previously told E! News that the door to the BAU would never totally be closed for him.
He explained:
“I’m not opposed to those doors opening up again.
“Now, it may not be permanently, and it may not be for a full season, but if there’s an opportunity to go back and dance and play, I wouldn’t be opposed to that.”
