One of our favourite episodes of Black Mirror could be set for a spin-off

Yessss!

In case you hadn’t heard, Black Mirror has returned.

The anthology series graced our tablets, phones, laptops and televisions with its hotly anticipated fourth season on December 29 and viewers were instantly hooked.

And now it looks like one of the most talked about episodes of the season could be getting its own spin-off.

The sci-fi space opera USS Callister follows Robert Daly (Jesse Plemons), an alienated atypical ‘Good Guy’, who turns out to be…well, the furthest thing from it.

He spends the whole episode making sure that people he doesn’t like – or who he perceives to have “wronged” him – are stuck in a eerie and totalitarian version of his favourite space opera TV series.

The episode’s director Toby Haynes has now revealed that a return to the USS Callister might be on the cards.

He told the Hollywood Reporter he reckons there’s more of the story to tell – and has even talked to the show’s creator Charlie Brooker about it.

He added:

“[It] is probably one of the best pilots for a space show ever.

“I was talking with Louise Sutton, who produced this and Metalhead, and she cooked up a brilliant idea of spinning it off into a TV series. I’m keen to see it as a TV series.

“I think Charlie might revisit it as a Black Mirror. Whether I’m the one to do it, I don’t know.”
