Our favourite noughties’ film is being made into a musical

FINALLY

Get your Razzles ready.

It seems to be the time for classic films to be remade in musical form which is absolute music to our ears. First we were delighted to hear that Moulin Rouge is being adapted for the stage followed by the incredible news that there’d be musical on Bridget Jones and indeed the 90’s classic Muriel’s Wedding.

Another film which has been chosen for Broadway treatment is one of the best films to come out of 2004… Can you guess which one?

According to Deadlinethe latest classic film to get the musical treatment is one of our ABSOLUTE favourites, 13 Going On 30.

The 2004 romcom told the story of a teenage Jenna going through the awkwardness of adolescence wishing to be an adult before actually getting what she wished for and having to deal with the consequences.

The film had an all-star cast with Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Christa B. Allen but to name a few actors in it so we can only hope the musical will live up to our expectations.

Reportedly, the film will be directed by Andy Fickman, (the man behind She’s The Man and Heathers: The Musical) who spoke of why the film was being adapted for stage.

“[It] has all the elements of a great musical: comedy, romance an empowering message — and a touch of magic.”

To add to the good news, the script for the musical will written by the same screenwriters from the movie, Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa and Todd Garner, a producer from 13 Going on 30 will also be helping direct the musical.

With any luck, it’ll hit Broadway soon so it can come to us in Dublin!
