“If I can do it anyone can!”
We recently caught up with one of our favourite faces on the TV, Rylan Clarke-Neal, who chatted about a few lockdown learnings and his love of cheese toasties!
The star has just launched an online cooking series with vegan nutter brand Flora Plant, in the new show Rylan puts recipes to the test while using the plant based product.
“I’m not a vegan or a vegetarian myself but it’s just showing how everyone can make little changes that hopefully could actually give quite a good benefit.”
When he got the call to work with the plant based brand he said he was surprised because he’s not an expert cook or anything. “I was like you do know I’m the host of ready steady cook, I’m not one of the chefs?!”
If you’re wondering how difficult the recipes are don’t be afraid, Rylan is as honest as ever says “if I can do it anyone can!”
Even though he is not vegan himself Rylan says he would use the butter made of plant oil. Over lockdown he used it when perfecting the person toasted cheese sandwich at home.
“I actually made it with Flora Plant, I made a grilled cheese sandwich. I did it properly, I did it in the pan, with cheese on top and it was sort of soaking in the Flora Plant, it was so nice!”
“We had people doing a taste test and did they notice the difference and they can’t, they really really can’t.”
As for cooking in general, the TV presenter says “I do when I get the time.” But during lockdown he “had a little cook up every now and then.”
His go to food is a favourite for most – “I love anything pasta, I’m a sucker for Italian food.” And he tells us if he could have anyone for dinner it would be “all five Spice Girls, easy answer.” And he agreed that karaoke would have to happen afterwards, that sounds like the perfect dinner party in our opinion.
Hi biggest kitchen mishap was when “I tried to make this nigella recipe once, its called a meats, it’s basically a pizza without the base. the base is like meat. She done a really good job of it on the telly. Her one was lovey, my one was terrible.”
