“I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?”

It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for – Sex and the City is coming back to our screens.

We’ve been waiting 16 years for the TV show to return and now you can get excited because it is finally happening.

HBO confirmed this week to Variety that the much loved show is getting the revival treatment at HBO Max.

They even have a name for the new series, which will be called ‘And Just Like That…’ and will star Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. The three will also executively produce the show.

You may have noticed all the girls will be back except for Kim Cattrall, aka the infamous Samantha Jones.

It’s strange to imagine the show without her but after much reported beef between her and Sarah Jessica Parker, it’s not a huge surprise that she’s not returning.

And although it’s hard to picture the streets of NY without one of its original downtown girls gracing them, that’s how the next chapter is looking. We will miss the dirty jokes she used to throw around in every episode, but hey, this is the way it has to be so we must simply deal with it.

Thankfully, it’s not looking like we’ll have to wait too long for the next instalment as filming is expected to start this spring.

Variety says the new show will follow the ladies as “they navigate love and friendship in their 50s. The series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes.”

The stars shared the news on social media last night with a little teaser video that had everyone around the world buzzing for the new episodes.

The video is filled with shots of NYC and shots of a computer screen with the phrases: “And just like that…” and “The story continues…” typed out. Sarah Jessica Parker’s voice also features, as it always would.

In Parker’s post on her Instagram she wrote: “I couldn’t help but wonder… where are they now?”

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said in a statement: “I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved city that has always defined them.”

We can’t wait to see where the ladies end up and how they got there without Samantha Jones by their side!
