"You show up at the right time, refresh endlessly, and still miss out. Too often, the experience is stressful, unpredictable, and disconnected from what should matter most: whether real fans actually get tickets."
"You show up for the artist, Spotify shows up for you. No added fees from Spotify, and more of an artist’s truest fans will end up in the crowd where it matters most."
With Reserved, Spotify will identify an artist’s top fans based on streams and shares, with extra monitoring to ensure tickets go to "real human fans and not bots".
If you’re one of an artist’s top fans, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase two tickets for an upcoming concert.
Once chosen, top listeners will be notified by email and will have a reserved window of around 24 hours to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
Fans can buy tickets for any show on tour, with the ability to select specific dates and seats at checkout.
The service is planned for an initial launch in the United States this summer, with more locations to follow.
Spotify will be introducing a new ticket-reserving feature this summer. The music streaming app, which recently celebrated its 20-year anniversary, will now hold concert tickets for artists' top listeners. The service, aptly named 'Reserved', will be eligible for all Spotify Premium subscribers over 18 with no added costs.
