The Lion King 1½ is probably the best film you never watched

The Lion King 1½

It’s GAS.

So, we’re all gearing up for the release of the live action remake of The Lion King.

If you’re anything like me anyway, you have been gasping for it ever since the news of it’s creation broke.

Before going to see the new live action version of the best Disney film ever made (don’t @ me), I plan on watching the originals.

And when I say originals, I mean all three.

Yes, you’ve seen The Lion King, and probably The Lion King 2 – but have you seen the third movie?

The Lion King 1½ came out in 2004, and is probably the best film you never watched.

If you haven’t seen it, let me give you a brief run down of what goes on.

Basically, it’s the original version of The Lion King, but from Timon and Pumbaa’s perspective.

It tells the story of how these two unlikely friends came together.

The Lion King 1½

Timon is a social outcast in his meerkat community and frequently messes things up. Sad for him.

Eventually, Timon leaves his family, and meets the iconic Rafiki, who gives him the low down on Hakuna Matata.

Timon ventures towards Pride Rock, where he meets his future warthog sidekick, Pumbaa.

And truthfully, the rest is history.

The movie tracks the story of the iconic duo, in everything we didn’t see in the original film.

They witness several scenes from the original, such as the performance of I Just Can’t Wait To Be King.

At the end of the film, Timon and Pumbaa are joined by Simba, Rafiki, and eventually many other Disney characters to rewatch The Lion King.

All in all, it’s just bloody brilliant!

Do yourself a favour, and watch it this weekend.
