There’s going to be a very, very big change coming up on X Factor

Keeley Ryan

Big…but also fairly familiar.

Filming for the new season of the X Factor is in full swing, which means that we’re bound to be getting little snippets of what to expect when it finally airs.

So far, that’s mainly meant hearing about the almost-complete overhaul of the judging panel.

But according to The Sunthe Six Chair Challenge is about to get a makeover, too.

To be honest, the whole idea of the Six Chair Challenge always made us a bit uneasy – mostly since it seemed unnecessarily savage (and put our favourites through the ringer).

Things are about to get easier for one of the contestants in each group, though, as the show is set to introduce a Britain’s Got Talent-esque Golden X buzzer.

Basically, this would let the performer know they were guaranteed a seat – and couldn’t be swapped out. This means, in turn, that they go straight through to the judges’ houses.

A source told the publication:

“This year each of our judges has one Guaranteed Safe Seat to give away in this round.

“If the judge likes an act enough and they definitely want to see them at judges houses they’ll press this golden X and give that act a Safe Seat.

“This means the act cannot be swapped out of their chair and they’ll go straight through to judges houses.”

The newest addition is said to have been unveiled at the first filming for the Six Chair Challenge at Wembley Arena.
