Basically, they have to keep the spark alive through WhatsApp, instagram and the odd phone call.

As far as shows go there’s one that’s been missing from our screens… a love story in lockdown. But not just any love story, one set here in Ireland between Dublin and Galway featuring a couple in their twenties trying to make their blossoming love, well, blossom. I can’t believe I just said blossoming!

Anyone who’s been on the dating scene during COVID-19 knows how tough it’s been to keep things lit on your dating profiles with only zoom dates to keep you going!

Well the geniuses at TG4 are releasing: Love in the Time of Lockdown: an eight part web drama on the platform for their younger audience, Bloc.

The story follows Declan, a twenty four year old lad from Galway and Aoife, a twenty five year old from Dublin who having met on Tinder pre-lockdown.

They hit it off on a few dates before the pandemic hit and they were just about to take the big step and take their profiles off Tinder.

So imagine this, they just start to make it official and everything is looking up and then Ireland closes. Declan is in Galway and Aoife is on lockdown in Dublin and can’t leave her house because her dad has MS and is high risk. So there’s no chance of a meet and greet!

Basically, they have to keep the spark alive through WhatsApp, instagram and the odd phone call.

Producer Paddy Hayes said of the series: “Throughout the Covid health emergency, I always wondered would it be easy for a young couple to maintain a relationship while being forcibly separated from their partners. And now I know it has its… challenges ”.

The series is out on Friday 26th of June at 1pm here.
