The new trailer for Riverdale’s season two is the most dramatic yet

There's just weeks to go until Riverdale's season 2 debuts - but after seeing the latest promo for the show, it has us wishing it was much closer. The brief but dramatic teaser clip directly addresses the cliffhanger from the end of season one, which saw Archie's dad Fred getting shot in the diner by a masked man. There's also a new intense look at what happens in the diner afterwards - with the assailant now pointing the gun at Archie's head. The 27 second trailer includes a number of other key shots - like a nice nostalgic shot of the gang dressed in throwback Archie Comics  outfits. Cheryl following someone (her mom? Archie's dad?) being wheeled into a hospital room in a gurney. Veronica's dad, Hiram, is also introduced for the first time. Archie breaking down after tries to identify the person who shot his dad. And...Veronica in a wedding dress?! Okay, so we're fairly certain that this must be a dream sequence - either that, or things between her and Archie are moving incredibly fast. And while things may seem hot and heavy between Veronica and Archie in the promo, there's bound to be some problems for the couple when the show returns. After all, Ronnie's bad boy ex boyfriend, Nick St. Clair, is heading into town. But they're not the only couple who may be having a rough time in season 2. Betty and Jughead's relationship will reportedly be put to the test this season with the introduction of a new character, Toni Topaz. Vanessa Morgan, the actress playing Toni, previously explained to Glamour:

“[Toni] is a Southside Serpent, a gang member, and Jughead's first friend. "So I might stir up the pot a bit with the Bughead relationship. There might be a little love triangle.
