WATCH: The trailer for Netflix’s Anna Delvey series is finally here

It can’t come soon enough.

Netflix has just dropped the trailer for Inventing Anna, which tells the story of the con artist and fake heiress Anna Delvey.

Anna Delvey was the name used by Anna Sorokin as she scammed banks, hotels and individuals while claiming to be a New York socialite between 2013 and 2017.

In April 2019, she was convicted for multiple counts of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree and theft of services.

Inventing Anna lands on Netflix next February, but the streaming platform has just released the first trailer for the series, giving viewers an idea of what to expect.

The trailer sees Anna become the talk of New York’s elite circles while flashing cash as she travels the world in luxury.

The legendary Shonda Rhimes is at the helm for this production, and given how sensational her last collaboration with Netflix was – cough, cough, Bridgerton – we know we’re in for a treat.

Taking on the role of Anna Delvey is Julia Garner, who you may recognise from Dirty John, Modern Love and Ozark.

The reporter who attempts to take her down, meanwhile, will be played by Veep actress Anna Chlumsky.

Other big names in the cast include Katie Lowes (Scandal), Laverne Cox (Orange Is The New Black), Alexis Floyd (The Bold Type) and Anna Deavere Smith (The West Wing, Nurse Jackie).

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal last year, Julia Garner spoke about the challenge of playing the infamous scammer.

She told the publication that she visited Anna in Rikers Island prison.

“The only thing I didn’t expect is that Anna is really funny,” Julia said. “She’s actually hysterical. And she’s super soft-spoken and gentle. Going into any part you can’t have too many negative thoughts because you don’t want to start with the character judging them.”

Inventing Anna lands on Netflix on 11 February 2022.
