You may have noticed, your favourite stars of the blogosphere are offline today.
Yesterday evening the likes of Zoella, Sprinkle of Glitter and Marcus Butler to name a few, announced a full-on outage across social media in support of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day.
35 of the biggest bloggers and vloggers have ‘Redded-Out’ their YouTube channels, Instagram pages and Twitter profiles for 24 hours, they’ll come back online at 6pm this evening.
If you head to their channels you’ll be diverted to an online video that reveals some of the injustices young people around the world are facing.
Although it’s for a good cause, fans are NOT happy. They took to social media (we see the irony) to voice their opinion.
How does not uploading a YouTube video for 24 hours help a starving child? #RedOut

I wonder how much the youtubers are being paid for the day off #RedOut

What’s the point of #Redout ?!? Wouldn’t they rather donate all the video revenue to comic relief instead of going offline?

#RedOut Influencers should USE their extensive platforms to raise awareness around Comic Relief and how/why to donate, not abandon them.

“I’m helping Comic Relief this year”
“Ohhh, that’s great, what are you doing?”
“Not uploading a video”
“Right..?”#redout
