Conjoined twins Hope and Faith, born to Renee Young and Simon Howie in Sydney earlier this month have passed away.

The babies, who were born with two brains in the same skull, were 19 days old when they lost their battle for life this morning.

Faith and Hope arrived six weeks before their due date and captured the attention of the world.

Their deaths were announced this morning by Australia’s Channel 9.

Speaking shortly after his daughters were born, Mr. Howie said to press: “We just want to bring them home, happy and healthy to make our family a little bit bigger and a bit more chaotic.

“Even though there is only one body, we call them our twins.

“To us, they are our girls and we love them.”

Young and Howie are parents to seven other children and refused a termination earlier in the pregnancy.

The girls’ unusual birth was the result of a rare condition known as disrosopus, and fewer than 40 cases are on record globally.
