Remember during lockdown when we all baked banana bread to beat the band? Well, it seems there is a new, delicious fancy bread trend doing the rounds, and of course, we had to try it.
Say hello to avocado bread – it's like banana bread, only, you know, with avocados instead.
And the thing is – it's surprisingly delicious.
We had seen various recipes for this treat floating around on Pinterest, and settled on this recipe by

The best thing? It is still sweet, like banana bread, but not overly so, meaning it goes as well with something slightly savoury on top, as it does served with just a dribble of honey or maple syrup – or, even better, a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup butter at room temp
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup mashed avocado*
