IKEA is selling its own chocolate Easter bunny – that you have to build yourself

Finally, an IKEA flatpack that won't put a strain on your relationship.

Anna O'Rourke

Look, for the most part IKEA is pretty great.

It’s cheap and cheerful, the bits are actually lovely and its retail model has revolutionised how people around the world shop for furniture.

Depending on when you go and who you go with, a trip to the store in Ballymun can even be a nice day out.

Walk though some dreamy fake sitting rooms and kitchens, impulse-buy some plastic houseplants, eat some meatballs – everyone has a good time.

The only downside? Having to put the stuff you buy together yourself when you get home.

Many a relationship has been pushed to its limits by a flatpack box, a sheet of instructions and more screws than seem necessary for a small set of drawers.

Now the folks at IKEA have decided that the same mentality should apply to chocolate and have released their own chocolate bunny in time for Easter.

Like all products from the Swedish retailer this seasonal treat is streamlined, affordable – and requires at-home assembly.

To be fair, this flat-pack rabbit comes in just three pieces so it won’t require the same relationship-testing mental energy and patience as, say, building a bedside locker.
