DELICIOUS!

Valentine’s Day: we won’t lie, we’re pretty on the fence about the whole thing… regardless of whether we’re actually in a relationship or not by the time February 14 rolls around.

Still, a recent meal-deal announcement from Lidl has us all enthusiastic about marking the occasion.

It’s available from February 10 to February 14 – and suffice to say we will be availing.

For €15 you get to choose one main dish, one side, and one dessert… along with a bottle of prosecco AND a gift box of homemade Áine chocolates. Winning.

Main dish options include duck breast with garlic and pepper; corn fed chicken, and striploin steaks. Desserts include Irish cream liqueur cheesecake and Fresh banoffee pie.

Otherwise, the supermarket’s bouquets of red roses are great value. Also on sale from Saturday, February 10prices start at €2.99 for a single red rose. A dozen sweetheart roses are €6.99; a dozen large headed roses are €9.99. Alternatively, really impress with 100 roses for €39.99.

Late last year, Lidl furthermore launched a ‘hangover-free’ organic prosecco.

The limited-edition bubbly was made with organically grown grapes and was priced at €14.99.

Richard Bampfield, wine connoisseur, said of the wine: “Relatively little prosecco is made from organically grown grapes, so this is somewhat special and is a particularly expressive example.

“With bright aromas of pear and white peach, it is not too dry, well balanced and ideal for drinking with friends.”
