Remember Salt Bae? Nobody is happy with him now and this is why

We expected better

He was one of the best memes of 2017.

But now everyone is less than impressed with Salt Bae.

Yes, the meat-carving extraordinaire took his infamous restaurant to New York City… and everyone left it hungry.

Nusret Gökçe opened his NYC steak house at the beginning of the year, and while at first everyone wanted to see Salt Bae do his thang, after the fifth time, diners understandably got a bit bored.

“With remarkable efficiency and magnetism that drew every eye in the vicinity, he did his little cutting and slapping routine.

“But we’d already seen it so many times before, on our cell phones and now in person, that it seemed a little stale,” said one critic for Eater.

But apart from the dying theatrics, people have also been put off by the price – with one steak costing $275 (€220) – and that’s without sides.

Another critic who writes for the NY Post said: “Last Sunday night, Nurs-Et was Public Rip-off No. 1.” His meal ended up costing a “whopping $521.45 – and left us craving a snack.”

Err, we don’t think we’ll be making a stop when we visit New York.
