Bacon and cabbage is one of the flavours. What a time to be alive.

With Lent and St Patrick’s Day just around the corner, all the ‘diddley-eye’ Irishisms are bound to make a reappearance but when it comes to food, we can overlook certain stereotypes.

Shamrock shake? Good. Stew. Good. Guinness. Good.

Granted, we’re just one bad impression of Sean Connery in Darby O’Gill and The Little People away from losing it in an emerald green fit of rage, but when it comes to crisps, we take things seriously.

Well, Ireland’s favourite spud, Mr Tayto, is following up with his latest innovations of the Spice Bag and Curry flavoured crisps and he’s taking inspiration that’s closer to home.

How?

Crisp fans can now get stuck into two new uniquely-Irish flavours; beef stew and bacon and cabbage.

Yes, that’s right. Bacon and cabbage-flavoured crisps now exist.

At first, we felt that this post from the Londis Newcastle Foodhall Facebook page to be a hoax, but Tayto’s official account have confirmed the new arrivals.

What a time to be alive.

All we need now is 45 pints, a few packets of these crips (not crisps), and maybe some auld peanuts.
