A prize-winning way to stay busy during your morning commute.

Anyone who spends time commuting on public transport knows it’s crucial to have some way of passing the duration of the journey.

It could be a go-to playlist to set you up for the day ahead or a favourite podcast that takes your mind off the evening traffic. It might even be as simple as scrolling through your social media or searching job boards for your next big career move.

But if you’re feeling lucky and ready for a challenge, we might have found the perfect way to spend your precious commute time…

To kickstart its new mechanic recruitment campaign, we’ve teamed up with Dublin Bus to create Trivial Bus-route – a quick-fire quizzing game offering a few lucky winners the chance to win €500 worth of Leap Card vouchers.

Trivial Bus-route is an online trivia quiz that challenges passengers to answer as many questions as they can correctly, before the bus reaches the depot. During the game, you’ll be prompted to answer several trivia questions along a bus route – before being entered into a draw to WIN a Leap Card voucher!

The new quizzing game (more on that below!) has been launched alongside Dublin Bus’ mechanic recruitment campaign, calling out for qualified Mechanics to join its Engineering team.

The new recruits will be tasked with helping to keep a fleet of over 1,000 buses on the road, covering everything from preventative maintenance to repair of vehicles. It sounds like a deadly job, helping to connect people in the capital via new routes, new buses and new technologies, playing a big role in meeting Ireland’s transport needs well into the future.

As per the job spec, the role will cover vehicle fault diagnosis, general maintenance and repair of vehicles, working with both hybrid and fully electric transport. What’s more, the starting salary for Dublin Bus Mechanics goes up to €55k, including a 20% shift bonus, and you’ll be paid in full while in training.  Very nice, indeed.

And there are some pretty impressive perks that come with the role. Dublin Bus employees have access to a super progressive HR scheme, offering a stellar career development programme, pension scheme, paid maternity and paternity for all employees, gym access, a subsidised GP scheme and employee assistance scheme with free counselling sessions and, of course, free bus travel.

In 2021, Dublin Bus even topped the list of Irish companies in Ireland’s 150 Best Employers Guide, a pretty appealing incentive to throw your CV into the mix, for sure.

You can find a full list of requirements and apply today right here.

How to play and WIN:

Trivial Bus-route is an online quizzing game that challenges passengers to answer as many trivia questions as they can correctly – for a chance to WIN one of five €100 Leap Card vouchers!

During the game, you’ll follow a Dublin Bus as it travels to the depot and you’ll be prompted to answer a trivia question at each bus stop along the way. You’ve got two minutes to answer every question and they vary each time you play, meaning you can test your Trivial Bus-route knowledge during each and every Dublin Bus trip!

For a bit of healthy competition, there’s even a leaderboard filled with the highest scores, but don’t panic if your result isn’t overly impressive. Regardless of quizzing skills, every player is automatically entered into the draw to win one of five €100 Leap Card vouchers.

It’s an incredible prize that’s sure to take the sting out of your commute going forward.
