The new year – a fresh start or a new chance for you to feel bad about your body?
The festive period can be tough on those of us who struggle with guilt around food. The time after Christmas, where we’re told that it’s time to stop eating and start dieting? This can be even harder.

Apply SPF every day
Yes, even in Ireland. Yes, even when it’s cloudy. Yes, whether you’re wearing makeup or not.
Get a smear test
Stop putting it off. It's a little unpleasant but it has to be done.
While you're at it (and if you have boobs), get to know your breasts and regularly check for lumps or changes.
Buy a sex toy
Masturbation can help to reduce stress, improve sleep quality and even alleviate the pain of menstrual cramps. It's also pretty fun.
Track your period
You'll be quicker to notice changes in your cycle which could be a sign of health issues such as endometriosis or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.
Take warm baths
Not for hygiene reasons but to help calm your nervous system, oxygenate your blood and even boost your serotonin levels.
