The simple, 2-ingredient drink that can blitz belly bloating

Sweet relief.

Katie Mythen-Lynch

It can happen for any number of reasons, but one thing is for sure: bloating always seems to appear at the most inconvenient times.

The main cause is good old Aunt Flo and the major fluctuation of hormones in the run-up to your period. In fact, many women actually gain pounds of water because oestrogen enhances the body’s ability to retain water.

Wine and excess salt in our diets don’t help either. The result? A swollen belly (and tighter jeans).

When you’re a model with a shoot coming up however, belly bloat is not an option – just ask Mrs Matthew McConaughey—Camila Alves. Revealing her tips on The Rachel Ray Show, Alves said her lean bod is all down to the diuretic powers of parsley.

The model mum relies on a secret drink to ensure a flat tummy before an appearance… and her all-natural recipe is a cinch to make.

Here’s how to make it:

Let it boil for five minutes, then strain the water into a jug and pop it in the fridge.

Alves recommends sipping three or four cups per day in the days before a big event.
