Batches of Celtic Pure bottled water have been recalled due to microbiological contamination. The products - bottled by the Celtic Pure brand - have been recalled from certain supermarkets as they do not meet the legal requirements and are unsafe or potentially unsafe to drink. Lidl, Aldi, and Dunnes Stores are among the supermarkets recalling the batches. "Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci or E. coli bacteria were detected in a range of batches of water bottled by Celtic Pure," said the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI). "Please see tables of implicated brands and batches that do not comply with the legal requirements. "These implicated batches are unsafe or potentially unsafe and are subject to recall." The table, which can be found here, includes product names Celtic Pure, Celtic Pure Sportscap, Comeragh, Gala, My Family Favourites, Carrick Glen, Ice Clear, and Workplace Water. The FSAI has urged stores and retailers to remove the implicated batches from sale. Consumers are urged not to drink the bottled water in question. "Pseudomonas aeruginosa poses a higher risk of complications if consumed by severely immunocompromised people such as those who have undergone transplants or chemotherapy," said the FSAI. "It rarely causes illness in healthy individuals." "Enterococci and E. coli – their presence in water is considered an indicator that the water has been contaminated with faecal material, however, this does not mean that it will make people sick," they added.
