A new study published in the British Journal of Nutrition has shown that eating two tablespoons of the cheese before going asleep is actually pretty good for you due to the high levels of protein in the food.
Cottage cheese is full of it, and it's also low calorie, leaving more room for all those good things that help boost metabolism and encourage healthy muscle growth.
This study compared the effects of eating cottage cheese with consuming protein shakes or supplements and found that they had pretty much the same effect.
Nutritionist Professor Michael Ormsbee said that this was one of the first studies using whole foods instead of supplements of shakes.
He said:
"Until now, we presumed whole foods would act similarly to the data on supplemental protein, but we had no real evidence. "This is important because it adds to the body of literature that indicates whole foods work just as well as protein supplementation, and it gives people options for pre-sleep nutrition that go beyond powders and shaker bottles."Unreal. Two tablespoons of cheese it is then.
