People are making McFlurries at home – and they look delicious

The recipe is actually quite simple.

We've all been there. You venture out to your nearest McDonald's with your heart set on a tasty meal, and maybe something sweet after. But as you place your dessert order, you hear those devastating six words. "Sorry, the ice cream machine's not working." Soul-destroying. Fear not, though, because many on social media are taking the matter into their own hands by making McFlurry dupes at home. TikTok user Hajar Larbah (@moribyan) shared her take on the classic dessert with her 3 million followers.

To follow along with her recipe, you'll need vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and whatever toppings you like. Larbah uses Oreos, Kinder Bueno and Nutella, but it's entirely up to you. Hajar stars by making her soft-serve. For this, she combines ice cream with Cool Whip - although you can just use whipped cream - in a two to one ratio. Beat these two ingredients until they're light and fluffy. Next, scoop your ice-cream mix into a glass about a quarter way up, and then add a layer of toppings. Repeat this process four times over, and your McFlurry dupe is ready to be devoured. Other TikTok users have shared variations of the recipie, and one appears to pack a sweet punch. Her recipe sees the user whisk 500 ml of double cream until it's stiff, and then combine with 250 ml of condensed milk, 2 tablespoons of vanilla extract and your toppings. She gives it a good mix and then allows it to freeze overnight. Once it's frozen, she mixes it again and adds some fresh toppings before serving.
