The animal kingdom has taught us so much. People have been noticing for a while now that monkeys open bananas the wrong way around, or are WE the ones opening bananas the wrong way around? This is the big question.
What we humans call the bottom of the banana is in fact the top! I know... mind blown.

The tough handle is simply what's left of the stem. When bananas are ripe it's actually MUCH easier to open them from the bottom (which is actually the top... we may be confused).
Turns out the easiest way to peel a banana is if you pinch the top of the seam then pull the pieces apart, you can see a demonstration in the video below.
Now... did we ever tell you there's NO such thing as an apple core? It's all in our mind... but that's another days work.
