Run the World! Seven Reasons Why You Should Hit The Road

Seven great reasons to hit the road!

Her

When it comes to the end of a long day at the office, getting your trainers on and hitting the road might seem like the last thing in the world you want to do. But, lacing up is the hardest step, and once you’re out there you’re taking on the world, one leap at a time. Here are seven reasons why pounding  the pavement is certain to do you the world of good.

It’s Not About the Money, Money…

Scientists have proven there are direct links between change in mood and exercise. Endorphins, released into the body during exercise, trigger positive feelings in the body. If budgets are tight you don’t have to worry about expensive gym memberships and fitness classes; a simple run will do you the world of good.

Healthy is Wealthy

Regular exercise can help with blood pressure, improve glucose tolerance, improve flexibility and increase muscle strength. Other big plusses to exercising are proven reductions in the risk of depression or anxiety. You will always feel better after a jaunt, no matter how much you don’t feel like going out in the first place!

Fitness is Fun (Seriously!)

Ditching the rest of the world for a half hour or so will do you no harm whatsoever, and you can invent your own fun. Load up an iPod with the cheesy tunes you secretly love and enjoy some headspace that’s all your own. Don’t worry about roaring along to I’ve Got A Feelin’… you’ve earned it. No judgement.

Pack Mentality

Running doesn’t have to be a solo activity. Round up some girlfriends who could do with a little inspiration and motivation, and take turns to lead from the pack – making sure people don’t cop out with a cuppa in front of the soaps – they’ll still be there in an hour! You could also join a club, as it’s a great way to meet people and socialise while you exercise!

Dreamy Delights

Regular physical activity will lead to you falling asleep quicker and having a better night’s sleep. If there’s anything a busy woman needs it’s a good night’s sleep, and regular physical activity is one way to make sure you hit the hay ready to rest.

Watching Your Waist?

Keeping an eagle eye on everything you eat is no fun whatsoever, and it’s not healthy to obsess about your food. Once you make sure that you’re enjoying everything in moderation and getting some regular exercise, your figure will take care of itself. Also, when you look good – you feel good!

Run for the World

Cancer will touch every family in Ireland at some stage, and the sad reality is we all either know, or will know, some one who has gone through Breast Cancer. You can do some good with your run by taking your trainers to the tarmac in aid of the  Great Pink Run this August. The Great Pink Run takes place in Dublin’s stunning Phoenix Park on Saturday August 30th, and you can opt for a 5km or a 10km, so there’s no excuse not to get involved!
