A 14-year-old girl from Norway has won over the internet with her homemade prom dress.
Amalie, who is from Harestua, a small town just north of Oslo, decided that she wanted to make her own dress in protest against the cost of dresses and the pressure that teenagers (and parents) feel to buy very expensive ones.
Making a stance, she created a short blue dress, made solely from IKEA bags. She managed to design a stunning dress and ended up winning best dressed on the night.
Posting a picture on Instagram, she said:
"It’s so much fun to stand up to the dress- pressure/dress code, especially when you end up winning the prize for dress of the year."
