3 Dublin Christmas markets we’re dying to check out this weekend

'Tis the season to walk around with masks on, probably buy nothing, but be in our absolute element.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, many events might be postponed or changed into limited versions, sometimes at very short notice, all of the below markets were accurate at time of publication but do check with event organisers before attending.

‘Tis the season to walk around with masks on, probably buy nothing, but be in our absolute element.

Is there anything better at this time of year than wrapping up, gripping a hot chocolate and wandering around a Christmas market? It’s a beautiful tradition and usually, many Irish families head abroad in order to soak up the beautiful Christmas markets of Europe. Of course, with most people choosing to stay home this year, we’ve rounded up a few markets right here in Dublin that you can check out safely.

Coppinger Row Christmas Art Market: This delightful art marked launched this past Wednesday and will run every Wednesday-Sunday in the lead up to Christmas from 12pm to 8pm. The pop-up is hosted by a collective of artists and designers with the aim of supporting Irish producers including HOME – a new Irish lifestyle brand with enviable products on offer.

The five traders involved will create a cosy off-street Christmas market in conjunction with Coppinger Row and it’s sure to be a sight to behold.

Winter Village at the Guinness Storehouse: The Guinness Storehouse has been transformed into the ultimate winter wonderland, complete with an exciting line-up of local craft makers, artists and much more.

In partnership with The Locals, Winter Village at the Guinness Storehouse is playing host to Dublin’s best artisan craft makers and artists who, due to the current circumstances, may not have space to sell their products this Christmas.

Speaking on the announcement of the market, John Mahon, founder of The Locals, said, It’s no doubt that this year has been incredibly tough on Irish trade, especially our small, local and family-run businesses. Teaming up with the Guinness Storehouse this year and becoming an integral part of their Winter Village is something that will support some local creators, designers and vendors and it’s something that we are very excited about”. Of course, Guinness experts will also be on hand to deliver some of the finest black stuff in all the land. You can get your tickets here.

Mistletown Christmas Market Dublin. This is a reimagined virtual Christmas market that we’re incredibly excited to attend from the comfort of our own home. From December 7th, the iconic Smithfield market in Dublin had planned to transform into a festive feast for the eyes with Santa, food stalls, a bar and even a vintage fairground all set to make an appearance at the historical fruit and veg mart. Due to safety concerns, the organisers have instead transformed the market into an online Christmas shopping experience. Mistletown is live from your home RIGHT NOW, and let’s be honest, the weather doesn’t look that promising for this weekend so, pull up a couch and enjoy your Christmas experience.
