5 things to do instead of wasting your life watching Love Island

Rebecca O'Keeffe

Love Island

I just don’t get it.

Okay, so full disclosure, I’m not watching Love Island.

Why? Genuinely I loathe reality TV. The idea of sitting in front of the television watching other humans go about their ‘business’ is bonkers to me.

You can agree or not, but that’s just how I feel.

I do appreciate that when it comes to Love Island, I’m probably in the minority.

Even as I write this, I can already hear people giving out (mainly the gals in the office).

But lads, the sun is shining, the weather is gorgeous. PLEASE don’t lock yourselves indoors and waste this beautiful day watching people sitting on an island.

Get out there, and live your life in the real world.

So, with that in mind, I have some delightful suggestions on how you should spend your night.

1. Go for a few drinks

Sure lads, isn’t it only gorgeous out? The perfect evening for a few gin and tonics with the girls in your local beer garden. Perch yourselves there and lap up what real life feels like. No island vibes here, just real friends (and real booze).

2. Enjoy a lengthy stroll

Who doesn’t love a bit of fresh air? Especially when the sun is shining (what’s rare is wonderful).

Get your butts to a beach or a park and stretch those legs. It’s been a long ol’ month, and a nice long walk is the ideal way to unwind.

3. Cook something delicious

Rather than getting a takeaway and sitting down to watch Love Island, why not get adventurous? I always see recipes, save them and then never EVER look at them again. Dig up something really delicious and have a go of it!

4. Treat your damn self

What about a bit of a midweek night pamper session? Lash on a face mask, but some oil in your hair and exfoliate. You deserve it gal.

Oh, and pour yourself a glass of vino while you do it!

5. Literally ANYTHING else

I appreciate that I am part of the anti Love Island parade, but hear me out. I love binge watching shows (trust me) but NOT when the sun is out and we’re finally allowed to see our friends again.

If it was lashing rain and we were still in lockdown, I’d be all for you escaping reality by watching it. But the reality is – the sun is out, and the vibes are good.

Get out there and enjoy it while it lasts.
